Auditions will be held for the 2016 variety show at the Sanford Maine Stage Theatre from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and again on Monday, Aug. 22 from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. Auditions will be held at Nasson Little Theatre, 457 Main St., Springvale. The theme is “Give My Regards to Broadway.” All music, songs, dancing, readings, scenes of plays should tie in with the many shows that have run over the years on Broadway. Participants should bring their own music. The show is scheduled for Sept. 24 at 7 p.m.

Wednesday, August 17

Coloring Calm, Goodall Library’s coloring workshop, continues from 6-7:30 p.m. in the Community Room at 952 Main St., Sanford. Coloring sheets and supplies will be provided, or participants can bring their own. Color in a relaxing group setting with music and refreshments provided. A flea market and lawn sale will take place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Curtis lawn, Temple Avenue, Ocean Park. There will be a great assortment of items. Proceeds will benefit the Educational Bureau. Tables are available for personal sales. Contact Nancy Smith at 934-5281.

The Healthy Minds Spark Makers program, hosted by the Children’s Museum of New Hampshire will take participants on a jog through history as they investigate some of the greatest inventions of all time. It will take place at the Dyer Library at 2 p.m in the Deering Room. Topics and discussions range from electricity to the chocolate chip cookie, as well as the makers who had the creative minds to make these inventions come to life. A museum educator will lead children in a hands-on, exciting, informative and startlingly science filled presentation with a focus on how maintaining a healthy mind sparks creativity and inventive thinking. The hour-long program will wrap-up with every participant making their own aluminum foil circuit that illuminates. This program is designed for children ages 5-11, but children outside this age range are welcome to attend.
