Trojans cruise past Rams

SACO — The defending state champion Thornton Academy football team continued its impressive season by cruising past visiting Deering 56-13 Friday night.

Cam Houde would quickly put the Trojans up with two rushing touchdowns in the first half. Quarterback Mike Laverriere would later add a 16-yard scamper touchdown.

Johnny Rosario would later take a kickoff all the way for a score, giving TA the 27-13 lead at halftime.

TA would continue to surge in the second half, starting with a punt return touchdown from Anthony Bracamonte. Laverriere would then add touchdown runs of 16 yards and 26 yards to secure the blowout win.

Sanford 33, South Portland 7

The Spartans continued to impress Friday with a big win over the South Portland Red Riots.

Quarterback Frankie Veino would score three touchdowns on the night, while also passing for a touchdown to Ethan Belanger. Sam Anderson would also add a late touchdown rush to secure the win.

Scarborough 49, Massabesic 0

The Red Storm offense would drive past the Mustangs in a big shutout Friday night.

Scarborough quarterback Zoltan Panyi shined for the Red Storm, passing and rushing for touchdowns.

Old Orchard Beach 20, Traip 0

After a scoreless opening quarter, the Seagulls would run a two-minute drill and take a 7-0 lead just before halftime.

OOB would control the ball on the ground throughout the second half and grinded out a tough 20-0 shutout Friday.

Field Hockey

Sacopee Valley 2, Ol d Orchard Beach 1

The Seagulls dropped a heartbreaking loss against Marshwood Friday. After the Hawks took a 2-0 lead in the half, OOB’s Rose Cyr would take a Mikayla Grier pass and score.

OOB continued to fight, but was unable to tie the score.

Girl’s Soccer

Massabesic 5, Westbrook 0

The Mustangs impressed Friday with a big shutout win over Westbrook.

Skylar Renaud led the Mustangs with a hat trick, while Brooke Cox and Alexis Kidder added two more.
