The City of Sanford Trails Committee sponsors a naturalist walk with Gordon “Bud” Johnston from 9 a.m. to noon. The location is the rail trail from Hanson Ridge Road to the new Vigue trail beyond Deering Pond. The purpose is to enjoy the trail and learn about the plants and the railroad history, and to check out the new Vigue trail.

Ride for Autism, a 10-, 25- or 50-mile ride to benefit the Autism Society of Maine, will take at the Kennebunkport Conservation Trust Building on Gravely Brook Road. A bean supper will be hosted by the Knights of Columbus along with pizza for kids of all ages at the St. Joseph Church Hall, 27 St. Jospeh’s St., from 5-6:30 p.m. The cost is free in appreciation for all in the parish and community who have helped make local Knights of Columbus Council successful. The HarvestFest Book Sale by the the Friends of Kennebunk Free Library will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the library. Many new books have been donated, and there will be some bargain discarded items for sale. All proceeds directly benefit library programs, collections and events. Fine amnesty for the month of October is being offered by Goodall Memorial Library, 952 Main St., Sanford. Fines will be erased with the donation of a non-perishable food item. The event will be held in conjunction with the library’s annual pre-holiday food drive.

Donations will go to the York County Food Pantry, to be distributed to local families in need.

A fall walk in Clifford Park, hosted by the Friends of Clifford Park and the arborists of Top Branch Tree Service, will be held from 10 a.m. to noon. Learn about the interesting tree species and specimens in Biddeford’s downtown forest.

Top Branch Tree Service will also answer questions about tree care and maintenance. Cider and donuts will be served after the walk. All ages are welcome to join in the walk. For more information, call 284-8520.

During the “Whole Family, Whole Health” celebration of the YMCA of Southern Maine, community members are invited to try classes and facilities for free from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Biddeford branch. Attendees at the event will receive a complimentary Y Family Pass for use through Oct. 7.
