House District 15 Candidate Arrested on Domestic Violence Charge

SACO — Mark Bedell, Republican candidate for House Seat 15, was arrested Sunday and charged with aggravated assault. Saco police responded to a call at Bradley Street around 9:45 p.m. According to Saco Police, the alleged victim, a 42-year-old woman, reported that a male friend of hers had assaulted her at her home earlier that evening. Police arrested Bedell, who lives at 85 Watson Mills Road. Bedell was not permitted bail and was transported to York County Jail. He is scheduled to be arraigned in Springvale today at 1 p.m. Bedell, 50, is a political newcomer who is vying against Maggie O'Neil for the legislative seat, which covers part of Saco.
