CAMDEN — The Thornton Academy youth wrestling team competed in a state-wide match in Camden recently, and the young Trojan grapplers put on a show against some of the state’s finest wrestlers.

TA brought nine wrestlers to the tournament, and three finished in first place while four finished in second in their respective classes.

Talan Berube took home first in the preschool division, while Caden True finished first in the fifth grade division. Nicholas Turner also placed first in the eight grade class.

Roger Souliere would then finish in second place in the kindergarten division, followed by Travis Lutz who also finished second in the fourth grade class. Adam Cole then took home second place in the second grade group, along with Dominic Tracy who placed second in the fifth grade class.

Jonathan Beyea and Austin Cole also had solid performances for TA, with each finishing in fourth in their divisions.

TA Youth Wrestling is Saco’s first-ever youth wrestling program. The Trojans are led by coaches Allen Berube, Marty Adams, Josh Beyea, Andrew Tripp and Roger Souliere, as well as volunteer Patty Ann Daigle.
