Siewierski joins Mainers

FROM STAFF REPORTS

SANFORD — The Sanford Mainers baseball team announced Tuesday the hiring of Justin Siewierski as the team’s new Director of Broadcasting and Media for the 2017 season.

Siewierski is currently wrapping up his junior year at Plymouth State University, majoring in English as well as minoring in Professional Communications. The Colebrook, N.H. native graduated from Colebrook Academy in 2014 before moving on to PSU.

At Plymouth State, he began writing for the school’s student newspaper, The Clock. As a sports writer, he quickly picked up the basics of journalism and became the editor of the sports section in the spring of 2015, and was later named the Editor-in-Chief in 2016.

During his freshman year, Siewierski began broadcasting for PSU Athletics, starting out as a color commentator for the men’s basketball team. Since then he has been able to call events for every varsity sport the school has to offer.

As the current color commentator for the Panther’s men’s ice hockey team, Siewierski primarily calls play-by-play for men’s and women’s soccer, women’s volleyball, men’s and women’s basketball, and baseball. As a part of the live broadcasts, Siewierski is also involved as an on-camera analyst for both the pre-game and post-game shows. He also coordinates weekly interviews for in-season players and coaches.

Outside of Plymouth, Siewierski has familiarized himself with local media outlets. He is a seasonal writer for The Colebrook Chronicle and has called playoff football games for the Plymouth Regional High School Bobcats through Pemi-Baker Television.
