Colby College receives $10 million donation for athletic complex

WATERVILLE (AP) — A Portland developer and his wife have committed to donating $10 million toward a new athletic complex at Colby College that's slated to open in about three years.

The Waterville school says the gift from Joe Boulos, a Colby alumnus, and his wife is the largest gift it has received so far from the couple.

The gift includes naming the school's new athletic complex the Boulos Family Fitness Center.

Colby College President David Greene says the gift will go toward creating a 13,000-square-foot strength and conditioning center in the athletic complex, which will triple the existing center's current size of 4,500 square feet.

Greene says it's not yet known how much the expansion will cost.

The complex is expected to open in 2020.
